College Softball: William Woods sweeps Lyon (Ark.) 2-0 and 3-2

The WWU Lady Owls extended their winning streak to four games by sweeping Friday's AMC home doubleheader 2-0 and 3-2 with the Lyon Lady Scots.

Sophomore shortstop Ari Arnold's one-out single scored senior designated player Beth Begemann with the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning in the nightcap to lift William Woods University (18-13, 4-4 American Midwest Conference).

The Lady Owls had taken a 2-0 lead by tallying single runs in the first and second. Lyon College (13-13, 3-2) scored a run in the third and then tied the game with a run in the seventh to force extra innings.

Begemann led off William Woods' eighth with a single to left, advanced to second on sophomore third baseman Amanda Bouchey's sacrifice and came around to score the decisive run on Arnold's single to right-center.

Arnold was 2-for-3 and scored a run as the Lady Owls totalled nine hits. Begemann finished 2-for-4 with a double, while senior right fielder Brailee Schulte went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Sophomore first baseman Alli Massey was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
