Men's Basketball: Lyon (Ark.) 58, William Woods 51

The WWU Owls were outscored 7-2 late in the game and fell to the Lyon Scots in an AMC matchup Thursday night at Anderson Arena.

William Woods University (13-7, 7-5 American Midwest Conference) - which won at Lyon College 78-72 on Nov. 17 - trailed 28-27 at halftime Thursday night. The Scots used their critical run to break a tie and take a 54-49 lead with 2 minutes, 7 seconds left in the game.

The loss was the second straight and third in the last four games for the Owls.

Senior forward Deon Pettigrew was the only player to reach double figures for William Woods, finishing with 10 points. The Owls shot 40 percent (19-of-48) as a team.

Senior forward Torin Washington grabbed a team-high five rebounds, but William Woods was edged on the boards 31-30.

Tyler Robinson produced a game-high 15 points to guide three players in double figures for Lyon, which shot 41 percent (19-of-46) from the field. Braden Wendel added 14 points and Joe Burt had 10.

Robinson converted all five of his free throws as the Scots shot a sizzling 94 percent (17-of-18) from the foul line.
