Women's Basketball: William Woods 65, Williams Baptist (Ark.) 58

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. - Junior forward Jasmine Brown produced a game-high 21 points and the WWU Lady Owls took control with a critical run down the stretch in Thursday night's AMC victory over the Williams Baptist Lady Eagles.

William Woods University (10-4, 7-2 American Midwest Conference) trailed 51-49 with 8 minutes, 7 seconds left in the game. The Lady Owls put together a 10-2 run to take the lead for good, crafting a 59-53 advantage when freshman guard Peyton Greenlee connected on a 3-pointer with 4:44 to play.

William Woods was on top 19-17 after the first quarter, but Williams Baptist College (6-8, 4-5) outscored the Lady Owls 15-13 in the second period to pull even at 32-all at halftime. The Lady Eagles then outscored William Woods 15-13 in the third quarter to go in front 47-45.

Brown made 7-of-10 shots to lead three players in double figures for the Lady Owls, who shot 42 percent (25-of-60) from the field. Senior forward Kelsey Scherder and sophomore guard Bailey Rollins logged 11 points apiece.

Greenlee collected a team-high eight rebounds to direct William Woods to a 47-33 edge on the boards.

Tashanescii Walker directed Williams Baptist - which shot just 36 percent (22-of-62) as a team - with 15 points. Da'Monique Brown scored 13 points and Alytrius Perry contributed 10.

The Lady Owls head to Tennessee for an AMC showdown with No. 1-ranked Freed-Hardeman University at 1 p.m. Saturday.
