The Westminster Blue Jays were shut out in their first-ever home opener by the Benedictine Ravens on Saturday.
Freshman midfielder Jake Hammerstone and senior defender Ethan Muffett combined for all six of Westminster's shots on goal. Senior goalkeeper Tirso Aquino recorded 15 saves in the first half.
"It's never an easy pill to swallow when you're on this side," Westminster head coach Scott Fields said. "The boys never stopped fighting and that's all I can ask from them when put in this situation."
The Blue Jays (0-2) play at St. Mary's University at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 2.
