Track & Field: Westminster's Kuykendall wins 3,00 meters at Rolla

ROLLA, Mo. - Sophomore Jessie Kuykendall prevailed in the women's 3,000 meters with a time of 10 minutes, 53.28 seconds to guide the Westminster Lady Blue Jays at Missouri S&T's Dewey Allgood Invitational on Sunday.

Westminster College junior Shannon McCaul - a Rolla native - took second in the 800 in 2:19.70.

Also in the women's division, William Woods University junior Madelyn Scrivner achieved the NAIA "A" standard by winning the hammer throw with a distance of 170 feet, 7 inches. Senior Kaylee Ferrier came in third at 139-2.

Scrivner also finished fourth in both the shot put (38-8 3/4) and discus (115-7), while junior Rachel Barker placed third in the discus (116-4). Freshman Laurnea Jarman took fourth in the triple jump (10-6 3/4) for the Lady Owls.

In the men's division, William Woods junior Darrien Dickey met the NAIA "B" standard with his third-place finish in the javelin (180-5). Freshman Ray Steele came in second in the shot put (45-5 3/4) for the Owls, while freshman Chas Kempf finished fourth in the discus (148-11).

William Woods competes Friday and Saturday in the American Midwest Conference championships in Elsah, Illinois. Westminster goes to Greenville (Illinois) College those same days for the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships.
