Men's Soccer: Westminster 5, Principia 1

The Westminster College Blue Jays dominated the Principia Panthers in their St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener Saturday at home.

Westminster (5-2, 1-0 SLIAC) scored its first goal in the 5th minute when senior forward Drake Trease was assisted by junior midfielder Daniel Barone. The Blue Jays scored their second goal when Trease was assisted by Barone again in the 9th minute.

Westminster stretched its lead to 3-0 when senior midfielder David Immanuel was assisted by senior forward Josh Jaycox in the 34th minute. In the 50th minute, junior midfielder Dustin Seibolt was assisted by senior midfielder Kyle Collins.

The Blue Jays scored their final goal in the 51st minute when Collins was assisted by junior midfielder Tanner Touslee. Principia (3-5, 0-1) came up with its only goal in the 74th minute.

Westminster had 32 shots - 17 on goal - and five corner kicks. Freshman goalkeeper Ben Chesher recorded one save.

The Blue Jays play a SLIAC game at Spalding at 1 p.m. Sunday.
