Lady Blue Jays drop By Noah Trister sixth straight match

The Westminster College Lady Blue Jays volleyball team couldn't stop its slide by preventing a Principia comeback.

Westminster suffered its sixth straight loss as the visiting Principia (Illinois) College Lady Panthers rallied for a 22-25, 14-25, 25-23, 25-20 and 15-12 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win Tuesday night.

The setback left the Lady Blue Jays at 13-9 on the season and 9-3 in the SLIAC. The Lady Panthers improved to 15-9 overall and 8-7 in conference play.

"We need to find a way to dig deep and put a team away when they are fighting it to stay in it," Westminster head coach Curtis Madson said. "That is a typical Principia team, they work so hard all match and make you earn it.

"We have to give them credit and learn from that example."

Senior setter Kayla Reeg tallied a double-double with 43 assists and 25 digs for the Lady Blue Jays, while freshman middle hitter Elizabeth Kelley registered a team-high 13 kills. Junior outside hitter Hannah Marshall added 11 kills and sophomore libero Bridget Ringwald recorded 19 digs.

Westminster remains at home for a SLIAC match against Blackburn (Illinois) College at 7 tonight.
