Lincoln struggles to stop Missouri S&T in 65-16 loss

ROLLA, Mo. - The Lincoln Blue Tigers allowed 530 yards of offense against the Missouri S&T Miners in a 65-16 loss Saturday at Allgood-Bailey Stadium in a Great Lakes Valley Conference matchup.

Lincoln scored late in the first quarter when Chris Othelot caught a deflected pass from Dennis Vinson and raced to the end zone for a 74-yard touchdown. The Miners blocked Alex Templeton's extra-point attempt to make the score 20-6.

Missouri S&T added two touchdowns and a field goal in the second quarter. Templeton made a 50-yard field goal as time expired, cutting Lincoln's halftime deficit to 37-9.

The Blue Tigers scored with 11:02 to play in the game on a 13-yard pass from Jordan Davis to Deonte Latimer.

Vinson was 10-of-28 passing for 177 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Othelot had his one catch for 74 yards and C.J. Closser caught two passes for 55 yards.

Will Randolph had nine carries for 35 yards for the Blue Tigers.

Amani Nelson led Lincoln with seven tackles. Addison Tucker grabbed an interception for the Blue Tiger defense.

Missouri S&T quarterback Tyler Swart threw four touchdowns passes. Braxton Graham led the Miners with five catches for 114 yards and two scores. He also rushed for 48 yards

Deshawn Jones rushed for 136 yards on 10 carries with two touchdowns for Missouri S&T.

Lincoln (1-6) will play on the road against Indianapolis at 5 p.m. Saturday in a GLVC game. The Greyhounds (2-5) lost 33-20 on Saturday at Quincy.
