Men's Soccer: Westminster 1, Greenville (Ill.) 1

GREENVILLE, Ill. - Senior forward Drake Trease accounted for the Westminster Blue Jays' only score in Tuesday night's SLIAC double-overtime tie with the Greenville Panthers.

Trease put Westminster College (7-3-1, 3-1-1 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) on top with his unassisted goal in the 31st minute. The Blue Jays protected their narrow lead until Greenville College (4-7-4, 1-2-2) pulled even with a goal in the 63rd minute to force the extra periods.

Westminster was unable to prevail despite owning a 23-5 advantage in overall shots, including 7-3 in shots on goal. The Blue Jays also had a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.

"This was an extremely frustrating result," Westminster head coach Adam Galla said. "We had a good first half and put ourself in a good spot starting the second half.

"Unfortunately, we made one mistake and they took advantage."

The Blue Jays return home for a SLIAC match against Iowa Wesleyan University at 3 p.m. Saturday.
