LOS ANGELES (AP) - The St. Louis Cardinals have put right-hander Seth Maness on the disabled list, a day after the team announced he was being optioned to Triple-A Memphis.

The Cardinals said Saturday that he was instead going on the DL. The move came after the club's medical staff checked Maness and said he had inflammation in his pitching elbow.

Maness is 0-1 with a 6.40 ERA in 13 games this season.
