Owls pick up overtime win against Harris-Stowe

The William Woods Owls outscored the Harris-Stowe State Hornets 10-1 in overtime to come away with a 71-62 American Midwest Conference Conference victory Sunday at Anderson Arena.

The score was tied 38-all at halftime. The Hornets (2-7, 0-3 AMC) forced the overtime period when Michael Gregg hit a 3-pointer to tie the game at 68-all with :08 seconds left in regulation.

Senior forward Trey Mitchell directed the Owls (7-3, 3-1) with a game-high 19 points as William Woods shot 39 percent (24-of-61) from the field. Junior forward Brandon Vice totaled 17 points and junior guard Jonny Woolf scored 14. Senior center Klayton Kuschel pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds to give the Owls a 45-43 edge on the boards.

Jalen Fletcher and K'Quan Carter led the Hornets with 12 points apiece. Michael Gregg contributed 11 points and Tyrone Alston added 10. Harris-Stowe shot 33 percent (22-of-66) from the field.

The Owls play at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kan. at 4 p.m. Saturday.
