Lincoln football fills open date

The Lincoln University Blue Tigers football team has filled an open date for the upcoming season, scheduling a road game against the Lincoln University Lions of Pennsylvania for a Week 2 game Sept. 10.

It will be the first meeting between the two schools.

"I'm excited our teams will finally meet," Lincoln president Dr. Kevin Rome said in a press release. "Our institutions have long battled over our shared name and now we will extend that friendly competition to the field."

The game is part of a home-and-home agreement, with the Lions slated to visit Jefferson City in 2017.

The Blue Tigers open their 11-game season at 2 p.m. Sept. 3 against Langston at Dwight T. Reed Stadium.
