One of three debates to be hosted by the Fulton Sun has been cancelled.
The Oct. 18 debate for candidates in the District 3 U.S. Representative race was cancelled because incumbent Republican Blaine Luetkemeyer did not accept the invitation. His rival in the race, Democrat Katy Geppert, did accept, and the Fulton Sun will reach out to her and Luetkemeyer with reader questions that would have been asked in the debate.
All other debates are on as every candidate accepted the invitation. Here is the schedule:
Sept. 27, 7 p.m., Fulton City Hall
Presiding Callaway County commissioner: Republican Gary Jungermann and Democrat Susie Ferguson
Callaway County collector: Republican Sarah Gladman and Independent Nancy Elkthunder
Oct. 4, 6:30 p.m. Westminster College
State Representative District 43 race: Democrat Jamie Blair and Republican Kent Haden
State Representative District 49 race: Republican Travis Fitzwater and Democrat Lisa Buhr
State Senatorial District 10 race: Republican Jeannie Riddle and Democrat Ayanna Shivers
