Audrain, Callaway county chase ends in arrest

KINGDOM CITY, Mo. - A St. Peters man was arrested Monday night after evading Fulton police and leading the Callaway County Sheriff's Office on a two-county chase.

Earlier Monday, a Fulton Police Department officer spotted Robert Roberts, 27, driving a vehicle reported stolen from St. Peters. Roberts failed to pull over, triggering a pursuit within city limits, according to the Callaway County Sheriff's Office arrest report. Fulton police discontinued the pursuit.

A Callaway County deputy attempted to stop Roberts at 9:39 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 211 and U.S. 54 in Kingdom City.

Roberts took off, leading deputies and Missouri Highway Patrol troopers north on 54 into Audrain County. At Mexico, Roberts turned around, heading south on 54 back into Callaway County.

Roberts was ultimately captured on westbound U.S. 54, just south of Route B in Auxvasse, according to the sheriff's office. He was arrested for tampering with a motor vehicle, felony resisting arrest and driving while revoked.

He was taken to the Callaway County Jail to be held without bond, pending a court bond setting.
