Debbie Laughlin was installed as president of the Rotary Club of Fulton, and Joan Berry Morris was recognized as the Raymond McCallister Rotarian of the Year during a dinner June 29 at William Woods University.

Other officers for 2018-19 are President-Elect Allen Huggins, Secretary Sherry McCarthy and Treasurer Joan Berry Morris.

The rotarian of the year award was presented to Morris by Bob Hansen, last year's recipient. The award honors the late Rev. Raymond McCallister, a long-serving member of the Fulton Rotary Club and pastor of the First Christian Church in Fulton. McCallister served as club president 1971-72 and passed away in the fall of 2005. Club members remember McCallister for his active participation in the club and for his sense of humor.

Previous recipients of the award serve as the selection committee and identify a member of the Fulton Rotary Club for recognition of distinguished service, loyalty and devotion to the ideals of Rotary.

Active in the club's service projects and co-chair of the Trees for Education endeavor, Morris also served as treasurer and vocational and youth services chair for the year. Through her efforts, Fulton Rotary will send Hope Gowin, a Fulton High School student, to Belgium with Rotary Youth Exchange and host a student from Belgium at FHS for the school year.

The Rotary Club of Fulton usually meets at noon Wednesdays at Fulton Country Club, but because there were Callaway County residents who were unable to meet during the day, an Evening Satellite Cub was established last year. That group from 6-7 p.m. the third Monday of the month at KACO, the Kitchen, and conducts service projects at other times during the month.

Carol England will lead the satellite club as chair during the coming year. Other officers are Cliff Atterberry, vice chair; Trish Alexander, secretary; and Tim Conner, treasurer.

Raymond Plue, District Rotary Foundation chair, recognized Rotarians for their contributions to The Rotary Foundation. New Paul Harris Fellows this year are Amanda Gowin, Matt Gowin, Josh Hanley, Bob Hansen and Joan Berry Morris. Denton Kurtz attained a higher level of Paul Harris Fellow.
