Holts Summit man sentenced in three-county sex crime case

A Holts Summit man involved in sexual assaults of minors in three Mid-Missouri counties pleaded guilty Friday to charges he faced in the last county in which he was accused of committing the crimes.

Around mid-August 2014, an investigator with the Boone County Sheriff's Department Cyber Crimes Task Force began an investigation after a Boone County resident learned Michael Kreps, 41, had sex with the resident's female child.

In September 2014, the task force, along with the Callaway County Sheriff's Department and Holts Summit Police Department, served a search warrant on Kreps' home in Holts Summit. During the search, several computers and other related items were seized. A forensic examination was conducted months later and found numerous images depicting sex crimes involving at least two other female children under the age of 12.

Additional information revealed Kreps had committed crimes against children in Callaway, Cole and Boone counties.

Investigators were able to show Kreps' girlfriend, Tenessa Wolfe, 28, of Jefferson City, was also involved with sex crimes against a child in Cole and Boone counties.

Arrest warrants were issued in Callaway County for Kreps and Wolfe in May 2015.

The charging documents indicate Kreps and Wolfe had sexual intercourse in Cole County with the victim, an unnamed girl, touched the victim's private areas, used sexual toys on the victim, and created child pornography by photographing the victim engaged in sexual intercourse.

The documents show these events occurred between Dec. 1, 2010, and Aug. 1, 2011. Three separate victims were identified, and their families were notified at that time.

Final sentencing for Kreps ended Friday in Boone County Court where he pleaded guilty to the charges he faced there.

He had been sentenced in Callaway County in September 2016 for pleading guilty to first-degree statutory rape with a person under the age of 14 and was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Also that same month he pleaded guilty to charges in Cole County. For pleading guilty to seven counts of first-degree statutory sodomy with a person under the age of 14, he was sentenced to life in prison.

On Friday, Kreps pled guilty in Boone County to three counts of first-degree statutory sodomy with a person under the age of 14 and three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

His sentences in all three counties will run concurrent to one another.

Wolfe pleaded guilty in Cole County in June 2016 to five counts of first-degree statutory sodomy with a person under the age of 14 and was sentenced to 25 years in prison. Her case in Boone County is still pending.

Officials with the task force thanked the Callaway County Sheriff's Department, Holts Summit Police Department, Jefferson City Police Department, Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, Cole County Prosecuting Attorney's Office and Boone County Prosecuting Attorney's office for working together on this case.

This task force is supported by funds made available through the State Cyber Crimes Grant administered by the Missouri Department of Public Safety.
