A Jefferson City man accused of causing injuries to two officers with a Taser as he was being taken into custody earlier this month has been sentenced to two years in prison.
Curtis Matheney, 22, pleaded guilty to a felony charge of resisting arrest. Two counts of misdemeanor assault were dismissed.
The incident occurred in the 2900 block of U.S. 50 West, according to a Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement.
Officers were told Matheney was driving south on Missouri 179, approaching U.S. 50. He was wanted for three active warrants of various charges.
Matheney's vehicle was stopped, and he initially provided the officer false identification.
He was instructed to leave his vehicle but refused. He wrestled with other officers inside his vehicle.
One officer fired a Taser, hitting Matheney in his chest and abdomen. During the struggle, Matheney pulled the Taser into a position where two officers were shocked - one in the shoulder and another in the hand.
