The second annual Mid-Missouri's Got Talent, which helps raise funds for the United Way of Central Missouri, is set to take place Tuesday at The Millbottom in Jefferson City.

This year's theme is "Rockin the '80s."

"It was a very successful event and it's a spin off of America's Got Talent," said Amber Gibler, United Way marketing and communications manager. "Those who were interested in performing at the show submitted online auditions. From those six were chosen and they will perform at the show."

Each contestant pays a $20 fee, and because it's a fundraiser they are encouraged to share with friends and families to make donations to get into the top six so they can be in the show.

"For the individual or group with the most votes they are selected as the People's Choice Winner," Gibler said. "This year the winner is Beth Barnhart, and she got a $100 prize."

Gibler said on the night of the event, there will be performances in between the six main acts.

Votes for the six main acts will be taken and placed in buckets. The contestant with the most tickets is the winner and get a $250 prize.

The entry fee, which is $5 provides five tickets to vote along with food and drink. Tickets can be purchased the door. The doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m.
