A Versailles man faces child endangerment and multiple drug charges after three children were left unattended in a vehicle at a Gravois Mills home last week and a 9-year-old child had an elevated blood alcohol content after medical evaluation.

According to a news release from the Morgan County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched at about 10 p.m. Sept. 30 to a residence on Red Hollow Road in Gravois Mills after a caller reported hearing multiple shots fired and a group of people gathered outside the home.

Upon arrival, deputies located a vehicle with three children inside, ages ranging from less than a 1 year old to a pre-teenager. A Versailles man, later identified as 26-year-old Brian Plemmons, was outside of the residence and questioned about the shots fired, which he allegedly denied hearing. According to the Morgan County Sheriff's Office, deputies were able to smell alcohol and the burnt odor of marijuana while speaking with Plemmons. Inside the vehicle, deputies located a plastic bag with a green leafy substance, believed to be marijuana, the news release said.

While deputies were on scene, a female told deputies she came out of her residence and went to the vehicle where the three juveniles were, since Plemmons allegedly left the children inside the vehicle unattended. Plemmons was placed under arrest a short time later, the news release said.

Morgan County deputies made contact with the three children and checked their well-being. The children appeared to be fine, but when deputies asked the children to exit the vehicle, one 9-year-old child was visibly intoxicated, due to slurred speech and juvenile not being able to walk under their own power. The juvenile was transported to a nearby hospital for a medical evaluation with a confirmed blood alcohol content of .093, the news release said.

During this incident a search warrant was executed on the residence and the car. Seized from the residence were methamphetamine, marijuana, RX pills, a sawed-off shotgun and three pistols.

Plemmons was charged with five counts of a class C felony of endangering the welfare of a child creating substantial risk (first offense) and a class C felony of possession of a controlled substance (except 35 grams or less of marijuana).

Two additional individuals at the residence were also arrested. Allison Williams, 24, Gravois Mills, was charged with a class C felony of possession of a controlled substance (except 35 grams or less or marijuana), a class D felony of unlawful use of a weapon, a class A misdemeanor of possession of up to 35 grams of marijuana and a class B misdemeanor of possession of a defaced firearm.

Robert Yount, 30, Gravois Mills was charged with a class B felony of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, a class C felony of a controlled substance (except 35 grams or less of marijuana), three counts of a class C felony of unlawful possession of a firearm, one count of a class A misdemeanor of possession of up to 35 grams of marijuana and a class A misdemeanor of possession of a defaced firearm.

Plemmons, Williams and Yount were all charged in Morgan County Associate Circuit Court.
