Stormwater project approved for Cole County subdivision

The Cole County Commission has approved engineering work for a stormwater project in the area of Meadowbrook Estates and Courtyard Subdivision.

Commissioners approved a contract Tuesday with Bartlett and West for more than $86,000.

It's anticipated the design and engineering work will take all of next year, and actual work on the project won't take place until 2018.

Heavy rains in August caused flooding in several parts of the area, and public works officials believe getting a jump on design work will help get construction started faster.

The project is estimated to have a total cost of $1.5 million and would include stormwater repairs, curb and gutter work, and street and pavement work. The majority of the costs would be covered by the half-cent improvement sales tax.
