Lady Bulldogs win team title at Callaway County Meet

South Callaway runners occupied the top-three spots in the girls' race, boosting the squad to a first-place showing at the Callaway County Meet on Saturday at Fulton High School. The Lady Bulldogs finished with 21 points, second-place Fulton posted a team total of 38 and North Callaway didn't field enough runners for a team score.

South Callaway junior Dariyn Finney was the overall winner with a time of 15 minutes, 47 seconds. Sophomore Caitlyn Chapman followed in second at 16:18 and junior Amanda McDonald placed third in 16:26.

Lady Hornet competitors occupied the next three spots, led by freshman Adrea Shadbolt's fourth-place result of 16:31. Junior Rachel Quick ran a 16:42, while senior Megan Coleman placed sixth with a time of 17:15.

Lady Bulldogs freshman Elizabeth Luebbert finished in seventh with a time of 17:30, North Callaway freshman Brooke Fischer came in eighth in 17:40, South Callaway freshman Gretta Cross earned ninth in 17:41 and Ladybirds senior Chania Hoffman rounded out the top-10 in a time of 18:06.

Other girls' finishers include: Lady Bulldogs junior Kallie Guthrie, 11th in 18:07; South Callaway freshman Kaci Jordan, 12th in 18:35; Fulton sophomore Mary Hinchie, 13th in 18:45; Lady Hornets sophomore Katie Lowry, 14th in 18:49; North Callaway sophomore Chayla Hoffman, 15th in 18:55; Fulton senior Tresemae Wagaman, 16th in 18:59; Lady Hornets freshman Sydney York, 17th in 20:26 and Lady Bulldogs freshman Ashley Potter, 18th in 21:15.

On the boys' side, the Hornets notched a team score of 15 as the only unit with enough participants to register points. Senior Grant Gaines paced the field with a first-place time of 12:02, sophomore teammate Tanner Steffen was the runner up in 12:34 while Fulton freshman Mason Gaines took third with a time of 12:39.

New Bloomfield junior Charlie Schattgen placed fourth in 12:55, Hornets sophomore Chaz Ballard followed in fifth with a 13:11 and South Callaway senior Terry Miles came in sixth in 13:33.

Fulton freshman Gabe Luebbert took seventh in 13:35, Hornets sophomore Jared Eliuk earned eighth in 13:36, Fulton junior Luke Lohmeyer placed ninth in 13:39 and Thunderbirds senior Steven Coleman claimed 10th in 13:49.

Other finishers on the boys' side include: Hornets freshman Nathan Quick, 11th in 13:50; Fulton senior Ian Shoemaker, 12th in 14:13; Hornets freshman Haydon Windsor, 13th in 14:28; Wildcats senior Marshall Woods, 14th in 14:58; Fulton junior John Burch, 15th in 15:01; Hornets freshman Tyler Hickerson, 16th in 15:05; Kingdom Christian Academy sophomore Zeke Barnett, 17th in 15:25; Bulldogs freshman Caleb Diehl, 18th in 15:30; Fulton junior Aaron Hickman, 19th in 15:32; South Callaway junior Roger Rodriguez, 20th in 15:55; Bulldogs freshman Nickolas Rodriguez, 21st in 15:56; Kingdom Christian Academy sophomore Jacob Auer, 22nd in 16:45; Hornets senior Ryan McLachlan, 23rd in 16:55 and Fulton sophomore Caine Breedlove, 24th in 18:51.

Fulton, Kingdom Christian Academy and North Callaway will run in the Mexico Invitational at 9 a.m. this Saturday. South Callaway takes part in the Jim Marshall Invitational at 9 a.m. on Saturday and New Bloomfield runs at New Haven at 8:30 a.m. the same day.
