Jessica Murafetis, the 44-year-old Kansas City woman who was found dead in Holts Summit last January, died of hypothermia, according to the Boone/Callaway Medical Examiner's Office.
Toxicology results also showed signs of methamphetamine and cocaine at the time of Murafetis' death, but not enough to be considered an overdose. Murafetis pleaded guilty in 2008 to unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, according to online court records, though there were no recent charges or convictions listed on Missouri's courts website.
The medical examiner's office also stated the manner of her death is undetermined, meaning its unclear if her death was a homocide, suicide or accidental.
Sgt. Marc Haycook with the Holts Summit Police Department said there are no new leads, but investigators are still looking into the open case.
The Fulton Sun reported in February that a release from police stated Murafetis' autopsy came back inconclusive with "no obvious signs of trauma." She was found in Holts Summit on January 30 in a grassy field adjacent to a gravel parking lot where tractor-trailers were parked at Exxon Mobil. The Exxon Mobil is located on the 100 block of East Simon Boulevard in Holts Summit, just off U.S. Highway 54.
Police stated Murafetis had no friends or family in Holts Summit and there was previously no clear reason why she was in the area.
