Construction on the Seventh Street bridge has begun as scheduled, closing the street between Westminster and Hickman avenues to through traffic.
The city of Fulton is replacing the century-old bridge crossing Stinson Creek. Work is expected to be completed by Aug. 15 in time for Westminster College and McIntire Elementary students to return to class. A press release from the city advises residents to use Hickman Avenue and Route F as alternate routes during the construction.
When completed, the new bridge will include a wider roadway, six-foot-wide sidewalks on both sides and decorative railings.
During construction, access on the Stinson Creek Trail beneath the bridge will be unavailable.
