Callaway County Family and Community Education (FCE) Council Vice President Umbra Duffy inspects hemming on her aunt in-law's dress during the FCE's annual May Tea Monday at the Callaway County Extension Center. Behind her, on a blue hanger, is her mother's wedding dress from when she was married in 1909.
Duffy, who joined the council 1945 and "hasn't missed many" May Teas since, brought the dresses along with a number of other family artifacts - most of which were from her mother - in honor of this year's theme, which focused on mothers.
In addition to snacks, tea and the items on display, guests heard from speakers Polly Burre and Sheila Guthrie from the Kingdom of Callaway Historical Society, who presented "Legacy From our Mothers and Grandmothers."
