William Woods University senior guard Katie Scherder was recognized as an honorable-mention NAIA Division I All-American on Tuesday.
Scherder is William Woods' seventh All-American in program history and the fourth in the six-year tenure of head coach Dan Chapla.
"I'm just really proud for Katie. She got better every year she was in our program and that is what you want out of a four-year player," Chapla said. "She had a really good showing in the national tournament, which helped her receive this honor, and it's very well-deserved."

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Sophomore designated player Emily Murphy had the Lady Owls' lone hit in their loss to the No. 9 Lady Crusaders in the nightcap of Wednesday's doubleheader.
William Woods University (17-14) also managed just one hit in being blanked 4-0 in Wednesday's first game.
Murphy slapped a leadoff single off William Carey starter Brittany Lang in the top of the third inning. She moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by redshirt freshman third baseman Bailee Schulte, but was stranded there when Lang struck out freshman right fielder Brittany Bexten and freshman center fielder Hannah Campbell to keep the game scoreless.
