The city of Fulton is seeking a new airport manager.
Travis St. John, longtime airport manager and fixed base operator with Elton Hensley Airport, submitted his contractually-required 60 days notice of retirement March 3. He will leave the position by the end of April.
"I am no longer able to physically fulfill my obligations at the airport as manager or FBO and will effective April 30, 2014, be vacating my office and hangar at the airport," St. John stated in a written notice to City Engineer Greg Hayes.
Hayes informed the Fulton City Council at its meeting Tuesday of St. John's pending departure. Hayes said St. John had been manager at Elton Hensley for more than 12 years, and he and his wife, Lucy, would be moving to Florida with family.
Hayes told the council that hiring a new manager would give the city an opportunity to review and change policy at the airport, a city-owned runway and hangar space off County Road 304.

In other news, the council approved its golf cart lease that will replace most of the aging fleet of carts at city-owned Tanglewood golf course with 50 new Yamaha models for five years.
The council got an up-close view of one of the Yamaha vehicles - councilman Mike West parked one inside of the council chambers prior to the meeting.
The resolution will approve the straight lease, which will cost the city $15,591 per year with a cart trade-in.
