Despite rain on the parade, the Fulton Street Festival continues

The parade was canceled for the Fulton Street Fair after heavy rain, wind and lightning blew into Fulton.

However, as of 6:45 p.m., rain had stopped and activities - including live music and button number drawings for prizes - are continuing as scheduled, weather pending. While some vendors along Court Street have packed up, others have remained and many food vendors remain as of 7 p.m.

Callaway County is under a severe thunderstorm watch - meaning conditions are favorable for thunderstorms to develop - until 9 p.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. The National Weather Service forecast states that scattered thunderstorms are expected throughout the night that could produce damaging and large hail.

Designated shelters for the Fulton Street Fair in the event of severe weather are Fulton City Hall, Callaway County Library, Callaway County Courthouse and First Christian Church.
