A fundraiser has resulted in new equipment for the Callaway County Sheriff's Patrol.
The patrol's raffle for a Remington 870 Express 12 GA shotgun generated $2,400, which Patrol Secretary and Treasurer Randy Railton said in an email was used to purchase body armor and uniforms for three new members.
The gun was given at cost by Briggs Gun Shop and features a synthetic stock and customizable choke tubes.
"We thank the entire community for their support," Railton wrote. "Look for us this fall to offer a rifle for deer season."
Marilyn Garrett won the drawing for the shotgun.
A volunteer reserve group for the sheriff's office, the patrol is entirely self-funded - paying for its own equipment and uniforms through periodic fundraisers like the raffle.
