Fulton man arrested for attempted burglary

Fulton Police arrested a man they believe attempted to burglarize a local auto repair shop Friday night.

At 10:42 p.m. Friday, officers "observed some suspicious activity" in the area of the Par 5 Service Center, 203 E. Second St., a press release stated.

Officers took Thomas Travis Byrd into custody as he was attempting to leave the scene, according to the press release. Police allege that Byrd, 51, of Fulton had stolen a key and entered the service shop unlawfully.

He is facing charges of second degree burglary and felony stealing third related offense.

Byrd was take to the Callaway County Jail on a $9,000 bond.

Byrd pleaded guilty in February to two charges of theft/stealing of property or services valued at less than $500 from an incident in December 2013 in Fulton, according to online court records.
