Callaway Electric works to restore power after storm

Callaway Electric Cooperative expects all its members to have power restored by nightfall at the latest.

Tom Howard, CEO and general manager, told the Fulton Sun at 3:30 p.m. that he was optimistic that all members would have electricity restored by about 5 p.m., but said it could be as late as 7 or 8 p.m.

"The outages are very small ones," Howard said, noting they are scattered throughout Callaway County.

He said outages peaked at 1,500 to 1,600 around midnight and as some members were restored others went out, affecting about 3,000 people total.

He said unlike most storms when outages are concentrated in areas, this storm caused minor damage in many places. In some places the storm it blew tree limb, in other places it snapped power line poles.

At 3:35 p.m., Callaway Electric Co-op's outage map on its website showed 26 members without power with the most being in the Williamsburg area.

Ameren Missouri electric company's outage map on its website showed power restored in Callaway County, however some with a Mexcio zip code on the northern edge of Callaway County may still be without power.
