The South Callaway Bulldogs made up for an off-night at the offensive end by displaying some defensive resolve.
South Callaway took a seven-point lead into the fourth quarter and eventually edged Linn in a 56-53 SMC victory Thursday night despite being outscored by the Wildcats 19-15 over the final 8 minutes.
The Bulldogs - who were up 27-18 at halftime and 41-34 to start the fourth quarter - were able to extend their surge, improving to 11-3 on the season and staying perfect in the SMC at 4-0. South Callaway has won four straight and eight of its last nine.
Senior guard Garner Rudroff registered 19 points to lead the Bulldogs, while junior guard Troy Hentges was next with 10. Senior forward Cody Vandelicht and junior guard Dax Helsel contributed eight points apiece.
North Callaway 51
KINGDOM CITY - The Thunderbirds had two attempts to force overtime, but neither 3-pointer found its mark in the final 4 seconds of Friday night's narrow Eastern Missouri Conference loss to the Indians.
North Callaway owned a 36-31 halftime lead, but was outscored 23-15 in the second half and dropped to 6-9 overall and 1-3 in the EMO.
Senior forward Brett Metcalf responded with 20 of his career-high 30 points in the first half to guide the Thunderbirds. Senior guard Chance Kee also supplied 10 points, while senior guard Miguel Hudson collected a team-high eight rebounds.

NEW BLOOMFIELD - New Bloomfield was outscored 23-11 in the fourth quarter by Linn in dropping Friday night's Show-Me Conference contest between Wildcats.
New Bloomfield owned a 29-23 advantage at halftime and took a slim 39-37 lead into the fourth quarter, but Linn controlled the final 8 minutes to claim the 10-point victory.
Sophomore guards Grant Nichols and Derek Shikles directed New Bloomfield (4-7, 0-2 SMC) with 18 and 13 points, respectively.

Host MSD succumbed to Jamestown's pressing defense in Thursday night's matchup between Eagles.
MSD trailed 32-25 at halftime and then found itself down 52-33 after being outscored by Jamestown 20-8 in the third quarter.
Junior forward Benson Goodwin posted 16 points to guide three players in double figures for MSD (7-5). Senior guard Nick Jones also tallied 14 points and came up with six steals, while freshman guard Ste'Quan Scott added 10 points.

WELLSVILLE - Senior guard Taylor Howard paced three players in double figures with a game-high 20 points, helping fuel the Lady Bulldogs to the convincing non-conference victory over the Lady Tigers on Friday night.
South Callaway - which forced 19 Wellsville turnovers - charged into halftime with a 40-21 advantage.
Howard also distributed seven assists for the Lady Bulldogs, who climbed to the .500 mark at 5-5 after picking up their second win in a row. Freshman guard Nicole Horstman provided 18 points and freshman center Konnor Arrowood logged 15, while sophomore guard Kennedy Baker grabbed a team-high six rebounds.
