Fulton opens fire station as warming station amid frigid temperatures

With temperatures plummeting Sunday, the city of Fulton has opened its south fire station, 151 W. Tennyson Road, as an emergency warming center for residents.

The station is open 24 hours.

The forecast from the National Weather Service calls for a high of 3 below on Monday. With wind gusts up to 25 mph, wind chill values could be as low as negative 35, according to NWS. At that rate, exposed skin can develop frost bite in as little as 30 minutes, according to NWS.

All schools in Callaway County have canceled classes and closed campuses for Monday.
