Fulton NAACP observes black history with "spirit of togetherness'

A young performer with the praise team Divine Purpose twirls a ribbon in the air Sunday during the Fulton NAACP Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Black History Celebration, "Spirit of Togetherness," at Guiding Light Missionary Baptist Church in Fulton. McBride said Sunday's celebration was the 14th the NAACP branch has sponsored. A speaker at the event pointed out that this year is the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Young and old gathered Sunday at Guiding Light Missionary Baptist Church in Fulton to honor Martin Luther King Jr. and celebrate Black History Month through worship and reflection. The program, sponsored by the Fulton NAACP, featured dances to praise God, songs like "We Shall Overcome," and reciting of King's "I Have A Dream" speech.
