Hornets snap skid, log first NCMC victory

Fulton holds off Moberly 55-52

It seemed as though the Fulton Hornets were on their way to another uninspired third quarter.

After leading the Moberly Spartans 23-21 at halftime on Friday night, the Hornets found themselves trailing by three points and on the short end of a 7-2 run by the Spartans with 6 minutes, 7 seconds left in the third quarter.

Then, in a matter of seconds, Fulton junior guard Ricky Dawson intercepted a pass at midcourt, motored toward the rim and finished the drive with a one-handed slam while drawing a foul - and a bloody nose - from Moberly senior guard Acie Seifert.

"That energized us," Hornets junior forward Austin Wilson said. "You know, for the whole game."

Dawson completed the three-point play to tie the game at 28-all and shifting some of the momentum back to Fulton, which snapped a four-game losing skid and picked up its first North Central Missouri Conference win by topping the Spartans 55-52 at Roger D. Davis Gymnasium.
