Contractor works on 'fine tuning' splash pad, city releases rules

He said the water feature is growing in popularity as it requires less maintenance and supervision compared to swimming pools. "Kids are going to play in fountains anyway, so you might as well design some fountains they can play in," Fry said.

Fry & Associates, a North Kansas City-based park and playground equipment company, and the City of Fulton are nearing the completion of the splash pad project at Memorial Park. Workers with Fry & Associates and its president, Jack Fry, were on site Wednesday testing the water pressure and making other final adjustments. Clay Caswell, Fulton's Parks and Recreation Director, told the Fulton City Council that he hopes the splash pad will be open this weekend. If so, here are the rules and regulations for using the newest attraction to Fulton.

Splash Pad Rules and Regulations

•Operating hours are 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Sunday. Season is May 1-Oct. 1, depending on weather.

•No lifeguard will be on duty. Use splash pad at own risk.

•Children 11 years old and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

•Do not drink the splash pad water as it re-circulates.

•Street shoes are not allowed on the splash pad.

•No running, rough play or foul language.

•Infants must wear swim diapers. Changing diapers is not permitted on the splash pad.

•Persons with open cuts or sores, infection or diseases that may be transmitted by the water are prohibited.

•Animals are not allowed on or near the splash pad.

•Glass bottles are not allowed on or near the splash pad.

•No smoking on or near the splash pad.

•No food or drinks on the splash pad.

•Do not cover water fixtures or drains.

•No climbing on splash pad equipment, benches or tables.

•Skateboarding, bike riding and rollerblading is not allowed on the splash pad.

•Do not use the splash pad during severe weather conditions.

•Electrical appliances or cords are not allowed within 10 feet of the splash pad.

•Splash pad can be closed at any time for maintenance or other issues.

•Anyone violating the rules and regulations can be evicted from the park.
