Lady Bulldogs easily dispatch Van-Far

Sophomore pitcher Konnor Arrowood struck out seven in five innings and hit a two-run homer as the Lady Bulldogs dominated the Van-Far Lady Indians 16-4 on Wednesday.

Arrowood allowed three runs on six hits and two walks to earn the win on the mound while going 1-for-4 from the plate. Junior Ashley Miller threw the final two innings, striking out one and allowing a run on two hits and a walk.

South Callaway (1-1) got on the board with three runs in the top of the first then scored three apiece in the third, fourth and fifth frames. The Lady Bulldogs added their final four tallies in the top of the seventh as they finished with 15 hits and collected six walks.

Van-Far scored twice in the bottom of the fourth, once in the fifth and its last run in the seventh.

Senior catcher Anna Bartley finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored and senior outfielder Kaitlyn Loucks went 2-for-4 with an RBI, a double and three runs scored. Senior outfielder Hannah Oberdiek was 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored while junior outfielder Kennedy Farley also went 2-for-5 and scored once.

South Callaway's JV record fell to 1-1 following a 5-4 loss in three innings.

The Lady Bulldogs begin play in the inaugural War on the Battlefield Tournament this morning. South Callaway - in the Gold Pool with Mexico, Hillcrest and host Battle - play Mexico at 10 a.m. and take on Battle at 1:30 p.m.

Bracket play starts at 5:30 with the first place team in the Gold Pool playing the No. 4 team in the Blue Pool, which consists of Liberty North, Eldon, Helias and Washington. The second-place finisher in the Gold pool plays the No. 3 team from Blue at 7 p.m.
