Lady Owls volleyball team rallies past Central Methodist

The Lady Owls rallied to take the final two games and edge the Lady Eagles - 25-11, 21-25, 18-25, 27-25 and 15-10 - on Tuesday night at Anderson Arena.

William Woods University evened its record at 1-1 after opening the season earlier Tuesday with a 25-17, 13-25, 25-23 and 25-21 loss to William Penn (Iowa) University.

Freshman outside hitter Abbi McKnelly guided the Lady Owls with 18 kills against Central Methodist, while junior outside hitter-middle blocker Emily Becker had 15. Junior defensive specialist McKenna Hisel and sophomore defensive specialist-libero Shelby Hinshaw logged 18 and 11 digs, respectively.

Freshman setter Brittney Engelbrecht accumulated 45 assists for William Woods.

The Lady Owls will begin play in the Bellevue (Nebraska) University Tournament on Friday with matches against Clarke College (1 p.m.) and host Bellevue (7 p.m.). William Woods will finish up the tournament with matches Saturday against Baker (Kansas) University at 11 a.m. and Northwestern (Iowa) College at 5 p.m.
