The Lady Hornets just couldn't find cracks in the opposing defense in a 6-0 season-opening loss to the Lady Blazers on Monday.
Fulton collected seven hits, with senior pitcher Brooke Baysinger pacing the Lady Hornets with a 3-for-3 showing. Senior shortstop Dacrie Depping went 2-for-3 while junior third baseman Baileigh Horstmeier and sophomore left fielder Kenzi Archer both were 1-for-3.
"I think at the plate our pitch selection is what hurt us," Fulton head coach Laura Dooley-Wilder said. "We had good contact hits to people and not through holes."
Tolton plated two runs in the bottom of the first, added three in the fourth and its final tally in the sixth.
Baysinger tossed a complete game, allowing six runs - five earned - on 10 hits and a walk while striking out six.
"A lot of (the Lady Blazers') hits were bloop hits that you just couldn't get to, not straight shots, which is promising," Dooley-Wilder said.
