Hornets golf team takes sixth place at NCMC championships

HANNIBAL - The Fulton Hornets golf team compiled a 365 total to finish sixth at the North Central Missouri Conference championships Wednesday at Norwoods Golf Club.

Senior Kory Masek led Fulton with an 84, barely missing all-NCMC status by a stroke. Sophomore Jake Hammerstone was next with an 86, senior Jack Brady carded a 91 and senior Brenden Hodges had a 104.

"It was a tough day with the weather, but the kids muddled through ... and tried their hardest. I feel for Kory," Hornets head coach Pat Kelley said. "Hannibal is a course where you've got to be pretty accurate and hit it straight. We had some issues with that."

Hannibal collected the NCMC team title, while Boonville's Brett Windsor was individual medalist with a 75.

Fulton hosts a quad match with Hannibal, Centralia and Wentzville-Liberty at 4 p.m. Friday at Tanglewood Golf Course.
