Repeat DWI offender drives wrong way in Callaway

An alleged repeat DWI offender was pulled over for driving the wrong way on U.S. Highway 54 between Auxvasse and Kingdom City early Thursday morning and arrested to driving while intoxicated, according to a press release from the Callaway County Sheriff's Office.

The release stated that about 3:20 a.m. Thursday, sheriff's deputies and Fulton Police Departemnt responded to a report of a vehicle driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of Highway 54 coming from Auxvasse. A Fulton police officer stopped the vehicle in Kingdom City as it traveled the wrong direction. The officer held the driver there until a sheriff's deputy arrived.

The driver, Daniel Christopher Roux of LaBelle, was arrested for driving while intoxicated, driving while revoked and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, the release stated. Officers allege Roux was intoxicated while driving.

The release cites public records that Roux has several pending charges from various counties including a DWI case in Audrain County from an arrest on March 31 and a DWI case from Lewis county from an arrest Jan. 16.

Roux was released to the Callaway County Jail and posted a bond of $15,000 surety.
