Hornets suffer 5-4 NCMC loss after Boonville scores late run

Boonville center fielder Jacob Francis singled home what proved to be the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning, lifting the Pirates to a 5-4 NCMC win over the Hornets on Tuesday night.

The Hornets (8-4, 4-3 North Central Missouri Conference) - who fell to Boonville 7-4 in Fulton on March 26 - suffered their second straight loss after winning six in a row.

Henry, Hammerstone direct Fulton

to victory at Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY CITY - Junior Matt Henry and sophomore Jake Hammerstone ended in a three-way tie for medalist honors as the Hornets prevailed in Tuesday's triangular with Montgomery County and Wright City.

Henry and Hammerstone both shot a 44, splitting first place individually with Montgomery County's Jack Ekton, as Fulton posted a 180 team score. The host Wildcats were second with a 194 and Wright City came in third with a 206.

Seniors Jack Brady and Brenden Hodges also provided a pair of 46s for the Hornets.

The Hornets picked up their first victory of the season with Tuesday night's non-conference shutout of the Eagles at the high school athletic complex.

Senior midfielder Angela Hinchie supplied the Lady Hornets' lone goal in a North Central Missouri Confernece loss to the Lady Spartans on Tuesday night at the high school athletic complex.

After Moberly tallied two goals in the opening half, Hinchie's unassisted strike sent Fulton (0-9, 0-5) into halftime down 2-1.

The Lady Spartans tacked on two more goals in the second half as they outshot the Lady Hornets 14-5.

South Callaway girls, boys

both finish second at Versailles

VERSAILLES - Seniors Taylor Howard and Abigail Luebbert, and junior Hannah Oberdiek each won events last Thursday as the Lady Bulldogs lost out to Eldon by a point for the team title at the Versailles Invitational.

In the boys' division, senior Garner Rudroff produced a pair of victories and juniors Cory Hanger, Mason Shoemaker and Terry Miles all prevailed in events to steer South Callaway to another second-place team finish.
