Fulton receives honor for customer utility service

The city of Fulton has been recognized as one of the most reliable sources of electricity in the nation.

Fulton earned the Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3) designation from the American Public Power Association (APPA) "for providing consumers with the highest degree of reliable and safe electric service," a press release from the city states.

Though the Fulton Utility Board was informed of the designation in advance, the award was not officially announced until April 7 during the association's annual Engineering & Operations Technical Conference held in Oklahoma City.

"There's only 300 cities who received this, it's a very big deal," said Utility Assistant Ellen Palada told the board at its March meeting. "We're the eighth municipality in Missouri to receive it in 10 years, and a lot of municipalities are repeats."
