In an effort to help parents better understand the Everyday Math program, Bush Elementary held Family Math Night Wednesday.
The open house event brought parents together with children in their classrooms to take a closer look at the program and technology designed to teach math along real-world applications.
Brandi Hassien's third-grade class was packed with parents and family members who had just seen their students sing in a school concert moments before. Hassien said that the open house was intended to help parents better understand the way their children were learning math.
"Parents a lot of times say the "new math' is hard," she said. "This is to break down that barrier of miscommunication."
