North Callaway fares well with new formula

After first celebrating students who performed well and improved on the 2013 MAP test, the North Callaway R-I School Board heard a favorable annual performance report from Assistant Superintendent Nicky Kemp during its regular meeting Thursday night at Hatton-McCredie Elementary School.

Kemp started off her report by explaining that student performance now is calculated using the MSIP5 formula, which uses a three-year average looking at five standards: academic achievement, subgroup achievement, college and career ready, attendance and graduation rate.

As a whole, North Callaway scored 91.1 percent for academic achievement, 64.3 percent in subgroup achievement, 96.7 percent in college and career ready, 100 percent in attendance and 100 percent in graduation rate, for a total score of 92.1 percent.

"They will do Accreditation with Distinction in 2015, but if you were using this year's score, we would receive that," Kemp said.
