Holts Summit man sentenced on exploitation charges

A Holts Summit man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty Friday to multiple counts in a 2012 case involving sex with a minor in Moniteau County.

John C. Smith, 37, pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of a minor, second-degree statutory sodomy, use of a child in a sexual performance and possession of child pornography.

The charges were the result of an investigation by authorities who had originally charged Smith with seven felony counts for having contact with a juvenile male younger than 17 between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2012.

Some of the acts were reportedly videotaped.
