A water main break in front of McIntire Elementary disrupted the school's routine a bit, but did not result in a lost day of instruction Wednesday. School is expected to continue as normal today.

Superintendent Jacque Cowherd said he received a call at 6:30 a.m. that the line running into the building had broken, but the district was able to bring in a plumber to patch the damage to the point the school was able to conduct classes for the day.

With a little help from some neighbors, he said McIntire was able to carry on almost as usual.

"The folks at the Westminster Athletic Building opened their facilities up to us to bus children over to go to the bathroom, C&R Market brought us bottles and jugs of water, and we keep water for such instances as well," Cowherd said Wednesday afternoon. "We have them coming back this afternoon, and I believe by late this evening it will be all fixed. I think we'll be fine for school tomorrow."
