Santa's coming early this year - and he'll be in close company with the Grinch. On Saturday, Dec. 7, the Callaway County United Way will be sponsoring "Breakfast with Santa and the Grinch," which will be at the Callaway Senior Center 9-11 a.m.

The event typically happens annually, but wasn't held last year because the United Way wasn't seeing a huge response to the event.

"We've revamped it this year," said Glenn Harris, board president of the Callaway County United Way. "We're putting in a new twist with the Grinch, and we're hoping to drive in more people from the community."

Children will be able to spend time with both Santa and the Grinch while eating breakfast, playing games, doing crafts and more.

"We hope to see a lot of kids come in," Harris said. "That's the best part, seeing the kids."

Tickets for the breakfast can be purchased at Bank Star One, Central Bank, RE/MAX or at the door on Dec. 7. Tickets can also be purchased by calling 573-642-0536. The cost is $7.50 for adults, $5 for children 4-12 and free for children under three.

This event is one of several fundraisers left this year for the United Way, which is trying to raise $265,000 this year. The fundraising year began in September, and so far 80 percent of the goal has been raised.
