Callaway property taxes to be sent out today

Payments due by end of year

The Callaway County Collector's office will be mailing out county real estate and personal property tax statements today.

In the next few days, taxpayers will be receiving their tax statements for real estate and personal property owned Jan. 1 this year. Payments are due Dec. 31, 2013 for all taxes.

"Taxes become delinquent on Jan. 1, 2014, and additional interest and penalty will be due with any payment received after Dec. 31," Collector Pam J. Oestreich stated in a press release. "We do honor the postmark on your payment, so if you are paying by mail be sure to check with your local post office about their holiday hours to ensure you get the Dec. 31 postmark on your envelope."

Mailed payments should include the detached bottom portion of the taxpayer's statement.

Payments may also be made through the drop box on the north side of the Callaway County Courthouse. Mail is collected at midnight Jan. 1.

Oestreich told the Fulton Sun that anticipate revenues are up $100,000 for personal property and $300,000 for real estate from last year. Personal property is expected to bring in about $6.24 million and real estate taxes will total about $19.54 million.
