South Callaway qualifies for state meet in 17 events

Lady Bulldogs claim sectional title, Bulldogs finish third

The South Callaway Lady Bulldogs and Bulldogs track and field teams will be sending a record number of athletes to the state championships after a prolific display at the Class 2, Sectional 2 meet.

Sophomore Hannah Oberdiek qualified for state in four events Saturday in helping direct the Lady Bulldogs to the Sectional 2 team championship. In the boys' division, sophomores Cory Hanger and Mason Shoemaker both advanced to state in four events and junior Garner Rudroff qualified in three as the Bulldogs finished third overall.

As a whole, South Callaway qualified in 17 events - 10 on the girls' side and seven with the boys - for the Class 2 state championships Friday and Saturday at Lincoln University's Dwight T. Reed Stadium in Jefferson City. The top four sectional finishers in each event advanced to state.
