Thirteen students at the Missouri School for the Deaf in Fulton are participating in the school's Work-Study Program this year.

Five more Fulton businesses or organizations have been added this year to the school's Work-Study Program.

"The 2012-2013 school year has been a huge success," said Charlene Allison, work-study program aide at MSD.

Allison works with students while they are employed part time to learn about the real world of employment.

"I accompany the students while they are working to assist them if they need any help," Allison said.

Through the Work-Study Program, many MSD students gain work experience and confidence they need to help them find jobs after they graduate.

Allison said the 13 students are working either as volunteers or in paid positions. "This is double the number from previous years," Allison said.

Callaway County businesses or organizations with MSD Work-Study participants this year are: Fast Lane of Kingdom City, Fulton Nursing and Rehab, Kingdom Projects, Inc., Kingdom Christian Academy, MSD Kitchen, Precision Autobody, SERVE, Inc., and the YMCA of Callaway County.
